Waste sorting point starts working in Bishkek

A point for sorting solid waste began to operate in Bishkek. Press service of the City Hall reported.

According to it, the point for sorting municipal solid waste began to operate within the framework of a pilot project on the territory of Pervomaisky district on Panfilov Street, 188/2.

«The special eco-site for primary sorting of waste was built taking into account national, international standards, sanitary and hygienic standards,» the City Hall noted.

The total area is 147.1 square meters, 12 eurocontainers were installed, as well as two video surveillance cameras. The point was connected to the central communication systems: water supply, sewerage and electricity. A room of 15-16 square meters was equipped for the waste sorter.

The City Hall outlined the goals of the project:

  • Instilling a culture of separate waste collection and development of environmental awareness among citizens;
  • Improvement of the ecological situation and preservation of health;
  • Attracting private companies and increasing the revenue of the city.

The project is being implemented at the expense of investors. Work on the placement of such sites continues in other areas of the capital.
