Business may lose up to 40 percent of customers due to lack of cashless payment

«Our research has shown that about 40 percent of consumers today are ready to abandon a purchase in a store, if there is no cashless payment opportunity,» Kristina Dorosh, Vice President and Regional Manager of Visa in Central Asia and Azerbaijan, said at E-Commerce EXPO 2022 forum.

That percentage varies depending on generation, she said. A half among those, who are used to actively using the Internet, will refuse a purchase because of the lack of cashless payment option.

Kristina Dorosh also noted that non-cash payments have become a priority for the development of small and medium-sized businesses.

«E-commerce has helped many entrepreneurs survive the pandemic. It is critically important for aggregators to provide such conditions for business in Kyrgyzstan. Of course, this is necessary not only for companies, it is necessary for us, consumers. It is extremely important for them to be able to pay remotely,» she said.

Kristina Dorosh also noted that e-commerce is an opportunity for Kyrgyz companies to enter international markets. Global trends in the world of e-commerce are also important for the Kyrgyz Republic, because the republic is also part of the global economy.

«If earlier, when talking about e-commerce, we immediately thought of Ozon or Alibaba, then today e-commerce for Kyrgyzstan is a platform that can sell carpets abroad online. Without e-commerce, small and medium enterprises would not be able to enter international markets. This is an opportunity for them,» she concluded.
