President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov met with the climbers who conquered Manaslu peak in the Himalayas. Press service of the head of state reported.
Sadyr Japarov thanked the national mountaineering team for glorifying Kyrgyzstan with their achievements and raising the state flag on such high mountain peaks.
He expressed readiness to support climbers, wished them good health, success and new achievements.
The delegates, in turn, told that only about 60 out of 404 climbers from 80 countries, who intended to conquer Manaslu peak in the Himalayas, reached the top.
At the end of the meeting, the climbers presented Sadyr Japarov with the flag of Kyrgyzstan raised to Manaslu peak. The team will hand over one more flag to the most remote border outpost in Batken region.
A group of mountaineers from Kyrgyzstan launched Manaslu project, which was the first national expedition to the Himalayas and included climbing the peak of the same name with a height of 8,156 meters above sea level. The expedition members also planned to carry a three-kilogram volume of the Manas epic and the flag of Kyrgyzstan to the summit.
