Invasion of Kyrgyzstan: Death toll rises to 59

According to operational data from Batken region as of 6 p.m. on September 18, another 13 bodies were delivered to healthcare organizations of Batken. Press center of the Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan reported.

The total number of casualties as a result of the armed conflict in Batken region has reached 59 people.

The healthcare organization admitted 144 victims. Most of them — 102 people were transferred to Bishkek and Osh, 7 were sent for outpatient treatment. The rest receive inpatient treatment in healthcare organizations in Batken region. All the victims are provided with the necessary medical assistance; blood components, medicines and medical products are available in sufficient quantities.

Emergency situation has been introduced in Batken region. Shooting began at several sites of the border between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan on the morning of September 16. Settlements in Leilek and Batken district came under fire. The Ministry of Health reported 144 victims, 59 people were killed. As a result of the armed conflict on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border, residents of seven villages in Batken and Leilek districts, as well as Dzhekendi village in Chon-Alai district of Osh region, left their homes.

By the decree of the President Sadyr Japarov, September 19, 2022 was declared a Day of National Mourning in the Kyrgyz Republic.
