Heavy rains flood several villages in Issyk-Kul region

Houses in several villages of Issyk-Kul region were flooded the day before due to heavy rains. The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kyrgyzstan reported.

At about 9.30 p.m., a stream of water mixed with stones and gravel blocked two bridges in Karakol gorge. Residential buildings, internal roads and fields were flooded due to heavy rains in Balbai and Kurmenty villages in Tyup district.

«Clearing of the territory continued this morning. Rescuers and equipment of the Karakol city rescue service and the Tyup district emergency rescue service are working. In addition, special equipment was sent to Sary-Bulak rural area,» the statement says.
