The Pervomaisky District Court of Bishkek dropped criminal charges against the political scientist Marat Kazakpaev under the article «Treason» of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic in connection with his death. Lawyer Ikramidin Aitkulov told 24.kg news agency.
According to him, the decision was made by agreement with relatives.
In April 2021, the State Committee for National Security sent out information about detention of two citizens for treason. One of the detainees was a political scientist Marat Kazakpaev, the second was the former head of the Kazakh diaspora in Kyrgyzstan Marat Toktouchikov.
Marat Kazakpaev died from a stroke on June 10 in the remand prison of the State Committee for National Security.
