«Alternative Almaty — Issyk-Kul road will be tolled, because it is a public-private partnership project. A private partner will be involved, who will build the road, and will have to return the invested funds,» Sanzhar Bolotov, head of the Public Private Partnership Center, told reporters.
According to him, an analysis has been carried out on the project for the construction of the road. It showed benefits of its implementation. The Kazakh and Kyrgyz sides are conducting a legal screening for compliance with the law. Technical preparation of the project will start in the near future.
«There will be a toll for use of the road. This issue will be further discussed. Decisions are made both at the level of bilateral negotiations and within countries. This project is beneficial in terms of development of regional tourism. The Asian Development Bank is also interested in the project. They are also ready to finance the project. Therefore, possibilities of implementation of the project are estimated. I think that we will submit the project for consideration by the management to start negotiations and our internal discussions in the near future,» Sanzhar Bolotov told.
