Kyrgyzstan to approve intellectual property development program

Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Bakyt Torobaev met with the Deputy Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization Hasan Kleib. Press service of the Cabinet of Ministers reported.

Topical issues of cooperation in the field of intellectual property were discussed.

Bakyt Torobaev told that the procedure for approving the state program for development of intellectual property and innovation for 2022-2026 is being completed in Kyrgyzstan. At the same time, the country is considering the issue of joining the Lisbon Agreement for the Protection of Appellations of Origin and their International Registration. The Cabinet believes that this will make it possible to appreciate domestic agricultural products in foreign countries.

The official stressed that creative economy has been chosen as one of the priorities of the state policy of the country. «The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a concept for the development of creative economy. Work is underway to create a park of creative industries,» he said.

Hasan Kleib, in turn, expressed readiness to strengthen and further develop cooperation with Kyrgyzstan.
