The Committee on Constitutional Legislation, State Structure, Judicial, Legal Issues and Regulations of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan at an extraordinary meeting considered and approved the draft law on renaming the town of Isfana in Leilek district, Batken region of the Kyrgyz Republic into the town of Razzakov" in three readings.
Elchibek Dzhantayev, director of the State Agency for Civil Service and Local Government Affairs, presented information about the bill. The draft law, as he noted, is aimed at implementing the presidential decree of December 23, 2021, perpetuating the memory of the outstanding statesman and political figure Iskhak Razzakov.
From 1945 to 1961, Iskhak Razzakov was a Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Kirghiz SSR, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Kyrgyzstan.
In 2010, Iskhak Razzakov was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Decisions to rename Isfana into Razzakov were made at meetings of the town residents, considered and approved by the Isfana Town Council, as well as the state administration of Leilek district.
