Illegal activities on the extraction of gold from ore were conducted on the territory of Bishkek Free Economic Zone (FEZ). Press-service of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Kyrgyzstan reported.
«One of the private firms with the tacit consent and assistance of the officials of the customs authorities and Bishkek FEZ had been engaged in extraction of gold for a long time without any permits and in violation of the norms of technical and environmental safety,» the statement says.
After the facts were revealed, the Prosecutor General’s Office opened a criminal case under Article 336 (Corruption) of the Criminal Code, investigation is underway.
It is also noted that the inspection was conducted by the Prosecutor General’s Office in cooperation with the Department on Smuggling Prevention of the State Customs Service under the Ministry of Finance.
