Incident with the use of weapons occurred at the Kyrgyz-Tajik border. The Border Service of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan (SCNS) reported.
It is specified that citizens of Kyrgyzstan were carrying out construction works in Kocho-Boyu area of Batken district. Border guards of the Border Troops of Tajikistan arrived and demanded to stop the construction. A verbal altercation occurred, which turned into a scuffle.
«During the scuffle, one of the Tajik border guards fired four times in the air with a Makarov pistol. A meeting was held between Kyrgyzstan’s border representative for Batken direction and his counterpart from the neighboring state. The Tajik side acknowledged the inappropriateness of the use of weapons, because the citizens of Kyrgyzstan did not carry out construction work near the border line, but inside Kocho-Boyu village. The border representative of Tajikistan assured that measures would be taken against the military personnel who allowed the conflict situation. The parties agreed to conduct an investigation and meet to discuss the results,» the Border Service reported.
The agency noted that the situation at the Kyrgyz-Tajik section of the border is stable.
