Large batch of drugs seized in Issyk-Kul region of Kyrgyzstan

Officers of the State Service on Drug Control of the Internal Affairs Department of Issyk-Kul region, with the support of soldiers of Shumkar special operations unit of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, carried out a special operation to detain a group of drug dealers. Press service of the regional department reported.

Operational information was received in early December that three residents of the region were storing a large batch of drugs and were planning to sell it.

«The suspected persons intending to sell the drugs were identified. They turned out to be 38-year-old K.A., 39-year-old B.T. and 26-year-old T.A., living in one of the villages in Ak-Suu districts. The investigators found out that the drug dealers were looking for buyers to sell drugs, or exchange them for cars,» the statement says.

Officers of the department acted as buyers. Having agreed on the deal, they set the time and place for exchange of the drugs for Nissan and Audi 100 cars.

«The suspects were detained while handing over the drugs packaged in 42 matchboxes,» the police said.

A forensic chemical examination confirmed that the seized drugs were hashish and marijuana. The total weight of hashish was 658 grams and marijuana — 239 grams.

The detainees were taken into custody for a period of two months by the decision of Karakol City Court. The investigation continues.
