The Ministry of Agriculture of the Kyrgyz Republic will carry out a complete renewal of the seed stock of the genetic bank. Press service of the ministry reported.
To date, the genetic bank contains 2,322 specimens and 23 new varieties of cereals, legumes and oilseeds of Kyrgyz, Russian, Turkish, Ukrainian and German selection.
The ministry plans to renew the seed stock in three years. More than 50 agreements have already been signed with 35 seed farms for spring sowing. Seeds of high-yielding crops were allocated for over 50 million soms.
At least 500 tons of cotton seeds, 1,000 tons of seeds of winter wheat varieties «Elite», «Super Elite» and wheat seeds of the first reproduction («Asr» and «Davr») have been received from Uzbekistan and have already been sown. An agreement was also signed with Kazakhstan for the supply of 1,000 tons of high-yielding spring crops at no cost.
