Almazbek Atambayev announces indefinite rally

Former president of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev told reporters today that he was ready to release the soldiers of the special forces of the State Committee for National Security. 24.kg news agency correspondent reports from the scene.

The former head of state said that soldiers of the security forces, who were taken hostage, asked him for forgiveness.

«Special forces officers apologized. They are also someone’s children, and I understand that. We took out a larger number of wounded yesterday. Six people remain here now, but we will let them go. I’m not a sheep whom Jeenbekov will take to cut a throat,» Almazbek Atambayev said.

He also noted that an indefinite rally would begin today.

«We will start it at Forum building at around 4 p.m. We will hold the rally not to be taken as sheep. Yesterday, there was an attempt to capture us, power is turning in the other direction. Only Atambayev was armed. The prosecutor general is pretending or does not know the laws — my house is under state protection until a court ruling, and the security forces have no right to break into it,» said Almazbek Atambayev.
