«These brutality and cynicism of today’s authorities are simply shocking,» said former president of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev after a failed special operation on his arrest.
«Unfortunately, I am forced to address you, hoping that this message will reach you. There was an attempt to capture the former head of state Atambayev. Unfortunately, many of those, who were at home in Koi-Tash that day, were injured. Many came just to take a photo with me,» he said.
According to Almazbek Atambayev, in the end, military weapons were also used, because the special forces used not only pumps and rubber bullets.
«Of course, people, after they have managed to push out the special forces, did not treat them with sweets. There are injured among servicemen of the special forces. Unfortunately, the authorities did not heed my calls to enter the legal field. Several times I suggested to give written testimony both through the press and in private. Just yesterday, my representative was at the Ministry of Internal Affairs, proposing them to take my answers. I am ready to answer any question, because there was no corruption on my part in the Batukaev’s case. Sooronbai Jeenbekov is well aware of this. I told him about this myself,» he stressed.
At the same time, the former president thanked ordinary Kyrgyzstanis who, having heard the shots around his house, were able to gather, defend, and prevent him from being captured dead or alive within an hour or two.
«Still, it’s time for the authorities to change their minds. We are not such people, who will live on their knees, we are not collective farm sheep. The people of Kyrgyzstan are independent people for whom honor is more precious than life. And the authorities need to understand this at last, change their minds, enter the legal field. I suggested, you can convoke, persuade the Constitutional Chamber and decide who is right — me or prosecutors, who spit on all the laws. In order to detain Atambayev, arrest him, kill him, the authorities are already going to shoot at civilians, their own people. This is a lawlessness! Kyrgyz people will never be sheep at a collective farm, will not be slaves of the ruling clan. I once again suggest the authorities to change their minds,» Almazbek Atambayev said.
«I would like to appeal to the security forces: do not shoot at your own people! All this will end badly for you. Your leaders may run away somewhere, but it will end very badly for you. I believe in the citizens, in the bright future of Kyrgyzstan. However, we must defend together our future, our country. We will not allow all of Kyrgyzstan to be slaves of a family clan,» he summed up.
