Torture Prevention Center employees not allowed into military units

Employees of the National Center for Torture Prevention were not allowed to check military units. Director of the center Nurdin Sulaimanov told today at a round table discussion.

According to him, as a part of the study, employees of the center had to visit 12 military units, but they could not get into two.

«There is criminal liability for obstructing the activities of the National Center for Torture Prevention. The employees of the center were not allowed into the military unit of the General Staff, located in Koi-Tash village, and into the territory of Kyzyl-Kiya frontier post. We have drawn up acts on obstruction of the center’s activity. The Military Prosecutor’s Office refused to open a criminal case, but the commander was reprimanded,» said Nurdin Sulaimanov.
