Culture Minister cancels appointment of singer as music school director

Minister of Culture of Kyrgyzstan Azamat Zhamankulov canceled an order appointing the singer Samara Karimova a director of Niyazaly Osh State Music School. The ministry informed.

As specified, the order on the appointment of Samara Karimova is illegal and was signed by a State Secretary of the Ministry before the new Minister took office.

«Samara Karimova’s appointment was before my appointment, on October 24. Studying all the documents signed for the last two days, we came to the conclusion that the state secretary signed the order being on a business trip in Tashkent attending Days of Culture of Kyrgyzstan in Uzbekistan. This is illegal. From today, Samara Karimova is not the director of the music school,» the ministry’s press service quoted the Minister Azamat Zhamankulov as saying.

The minister sent a recommendation on reprimanding the state secretary of the Ministry of Culture to the Prime Minister.

Pop singer Samara Karimova has the title of an Honored Artist of Kyrgyzstan. In 2017, she was appointed a director of Sulaiman-Too Museum, but after public criticism she refused to take office.

Recall, the President Sooronbai Jeenbekov signed a decree appointing Azamat Zhamankulov the Minister of Culture, Information and Tourism on October 25.
