Three billion soms to be allocated to support development of culture in 2025

Three billion soms will be allocated in 2025 to support development of culture. The Minister of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy of Kyrgyzstan Altynbek Maksutov announced at the grand opening of the renovated State Circus. The event is broadcast live by Ala-Too 24 TV channel.

Altynbek Maksutov noted that this year the salaries of cultural workers were increased by 100 percent, expensive musical instruments that are not available in Central Asia, and the latest models of LED screens were purchased. More than 1 billion soms were allocated from the state budget for these purposes.

New stage costumes were made for 500 million and new musical instruments were purchased. 600 million soms were allocated for the preservation, study and restoration of historical heritage.

The minister also emphasized that funding for films and TV series has increased tenfold, from 30 million to 345 million soms.

«I am serving my second term as the Minister of Culture. In 2016, we barely received additional funding of 30 million for the development of the cultural sphere. We were extremely happy about it then. Today, we remember those days with a smile. Sadyr Nurgozhoevich, Akylbek Usenbekovich, you may scold me, but I want to make an announcement in advance. In 2025, an additional 3 billion soms will be allocated for the development of culture,» he said.

Altynbek Maksutov also thanked the country’s leadership for the reconstruction of the State Circus. The event was attended by President Sadyr Japarov, First Lady Aigul Japarova, Prime Minister Akylbek Japarov, Deputy Prime Minister Edil Baisalov, Mayor of the capital Aibek Dzhunushaliev, Chief of Staff of the President Kanybek Tumanbayev and other high-ranking officials.
