Sooronbai Jeenbekov ready to reform orphanage system

The President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sooronbai Jeenbekov discussed with Nazgul Turdubekova, the Director of the League for the Protection of the Rights of the Child, the issues of reforming the system of the residential care children’s institutions. The Information Policy Department reported.

The staff of the Presidential Administration will create a working group to reform the system of orphanages and residential care institutions. It will involve representatives of public organizations, expert community and state bodies.

The head of state stressed the importance of realizing the rights of the child to the family environment, since a decent person can be raised only in a family.

«We will study the situation with the children abandoned to the mercy of fate in orphanages and boarding schools, as well as abandoned elderly people in nursing homes. Leaders in the regions should work not only for the sake of the economic growth of their regions and districts, but also to protect the vulnerable segments of the population, to return children and the elderly to families. Our people have never abandoned their children and parents, always showed great concern and care. One of our main tasks is the preservation of every child in the family,» said Sooronbai Jeenbekov.

Nazgul Turdubekova raised this issue during the meeting of the president with representatives of the country’s civil society on July 19.
