Protocol of Council of Heads of Border Areas signed in Fergana

The meeting of the Council of the Heads of Border Areas of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan ended in Fergana. The parties signed the final protocol.

According to the Uzbekistan’s Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov, there are no unsolvable issues, mutual understanding and trust are required.

«Today we once again became convinced of the wise decision of the heads of our states in the creation of this format of the meeting. Our countries have huge unimplemented potential, and during the meeting, the parties could come to an agreement. Instructions were given on many issues for their soonest implementation. We are open to an even deeper relationship in all spheres,» said Abdulla Aripov.

The head of the Kyrgyz government Sapar Isakov agreed and supported the Uzbek colleague, adding that border issues still require special attention.

«The delegation came with kind and firm intentions, and we leave with a calm heart,» said Sapar Isakov.

He proposed to hold the second meeting of the council in Kyrgyzstan. «Tasks must be fulfilled without delay,» the Prime Minister added.

During the closed meeting, the parties discussed the implementation of a number of agreements on interregional cooperation, expansion of trade, economic and investment cooperation, deepening cultural and humanitarian ties, improving the conditions for crossing the sections of the state border, and other topical issues of bilateral cooperation.

The sides also discussed the possibilities of increasing trade and economic turnover, in particular, the creation of joint ventures in the mining sector, light industry and tourism.
