It is offered to revise the tariffs for drinking water in Kyrgyzstan. The head of the State Agency for Architecture, Construction, Housing and Utilities Baktybek Adbiyev said today at a meeting on water projects.
According to him, Kyrgyzstan has enough drinking water, but it used irrationally, in particular, because of the very low tariff. «In Bishkek, a cubic meter of drinking water costs 5 soms, and a half-liter bottle of water in a store — 12 soms. We buy it. We cannot estimate the value of tap water,» Baktybek Abdiyev said.
He added that mayors of towns and heads of rural administrations set water tariff 40-60 percent below its cost, so the issue of tariffs needs to be revised.
