Kyrgyzstan to start making driving licenses on its own in 2018

The state will manufacture driving licenses on its own from 2018. The Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Sapar Isakov said today at a meeting of the Parliament.

Deputy Ryskeldi Mombekov told where additional income could be found. «ID card costs 196 soms, and driver’s license — 800. The difference is 600 soms. The same situation is with the technical passport, these two pieces of paper cost 800 soms. The passport of the car is more expensive than the passport of a person. If the documents were produced in the state printing house, then additional funds would come to the budget,» he said.

The head of the Cabinet noted that he asked the head of the State Registration Service Dastan Dogoyev why this is happening.

The fact is that the driver’s licenses are manufactured by a private investor, he signed a contract with us and gets a lot of money. But this is a desperate situation: if we terminate the contract, he will go to arbitration and win, and we will be obliged to pay him the lost profit. At the end of 2018, the contract is over, we will begin printing documents on our own. The same is true for the technical passports.
