Largest in Central Asia mosque to be named after Imam Sarakhsi

The largest mosque in Central Asia, which is being built in Bishkek, will be named after the Imam Sarakhsi. The Spiritual Directorate of the Muslims of Kyrgyzstan reported.

According to it, the draft agreement on the status and the working conditions of the cult building was discussed at the meeting of Mufti Maksatbek Azhi Toktomushev with the Advisor on Religious Affairs to the Ambassador of Turkey to Kyrgyzstan Shemsuddin Unal.

As reported, the parties came to a common opinion that the institution will receive a status of the republican central mosque.

As the head of Yiman Fund Nurzhigit Kadyrbekov told 24.kg news agency, Imam Sarakhsi lived in the Middle Ages in the territory of present-day Kyrgyzstan, in Uzgen district. He had been imprisoned for many years, wrote monumental works on religion and was famous Ulema.

Recall, the mosque, erected on Zhibek Zholu Avenue in Bishkek, on the territory of the former Issyk-Kul cinema, is being built at the expense of the government of Turkey.
