Human rights defenders: It is inadmissible to silence the media

«There is a deterioration of the situation with respect for human rights in Kyrgyzstan. In particular, it is about the fact that the laws do not work. Human rights activists are being pressured. Courts make biased decisions,» Executive Director of the Center for the Protection of Human Rights Kylym Shamy Aziza Abdirasulova said at a press conference.

According to her, violation of all human rights can be seen in the course of investigation of cases of persons suspected of terrorism, as well as in not giving their bodies to relatives.

Lawyer of Adilet Legal Clinic Timur Sultanov added that the structures of the State National Security Committee, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Defense Ministry should be reformed so that they become much more transparent for the public. «It is inadmissible to silence the media and persecute human rights activists,» he said.

Human rights defenders called for fair justice and access to information, in particular, in the case of Cholpon Dzhakupova.
