Omurbek Tekebayev's relatives, party members go on hunger strike

Omurbek Tekebayev’s relatives and party members went on a hunger strike. The member of Ata Meken party Asiya Sasykbaeva informed 24.kg news agency.

She said that the brother and nephew of the politician, as well as several party members, went on a hunger strike. Sasykbaeva herself does not intend to join them so far.

«The goal of the hunger strike is to stop the lawlessness in court in the case of Omurbek Tekebayev. Trials of political prisoners are repressive in Kyrgyzstan, and in a democratic state, repression is unacceptable," Sasykbaeva said.

The deputy of Parliament Omurbek Tekebayev and the ex-head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations Duishenkul Chotonov are accused of corruption.
