Daughter of Islam Karimov serves 5-year sentence in prison

The daughter of the former president of Uzbekistan, Gulnara Karimova, is serving a five-year prison sentence for her conviction in 2015 of embezzlement and extortion of funds. The Prosecutor General’s Office of Uzbekistan reported.

Gulnara Karimova was charged under several articles of the Criminal Code. She was given a preventive measure in form of detention, Department for Combating Organized Crime and Corruption of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Uzbekistan reported.
