The Deputy of the Parliament Kanat Isaev decided to run for the presidency in
Kanat Isaev used to work as mayor of Tokmak town. After April 2010 events, the decree of the interim government dismissed him. In the autumn of the same year, he was elected a deputy of Parliament and headed Respublika faction.
In May 2017, Kanat Isaev was charged with corruption. The criminal case was opened by the Prosecutor General’s Office.
On July 22, the investigation into the case of MP Kanat Isaev was completed and handed over to Pervomaisky District Court of Bishkek.
Earlier, the CEC received 39 applications from those wishing to become president of the country.
The nomination of candidates ends on August 1. Elections of the head of state will be held on October 15.
