Rally held near UN house in Bishkek

Rally is being held near the UN house in Bishkek, about 20 people gathered. They hold posters with the slogans «Don’t close the people and the media eyes!», «Freedom to Tekebayev!», «UN, remind Atambayev international obligations in the field of human rights!» and others.

According to one of the participants Adil Turdukulov, former UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and Kofi Annan met with leaders of civil society.

«But the new chairman of the UN ignored the meeting for unclear, despite our urgent requests. And this is surprising when Kyrgyzstan is under unprecedented pressure on freedom of speech and peaceful assembly, when international obligations are ignored and when there are already 25 political prisoners in the country. In this regard, we have no other way to express our opinion but through the rally," he told 24.kg news agency.

According to the participants, they intend to stand until their appeal to be sent to the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres.

«Free press is an indispensable condition for free and fair elections," the appeal says.

About 10 police officers follow the order.

Recall, today the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres arrives in Kyrgyzstan.
