The head of the human rights movement Bir Dyino Tolekan Ismailova lost the lawsuit in three instances against the President Almazbek Atambayev on protection of honor and dignity.
The human rights defender demanded to recover 10 million soms from the plaintiff as compensation for material damage and to refute his speech in May 2016 at the event in honor of Mother’s Day, where Almazbek Atambayev mentioned her and the head of the HRC «Kylym Shamy» Aziza Abdirasulova in a negative way.
Pervomaisky District Court and the Bishkek City Court dismissed the claim. The Supreme Court upheld previous decisions.
Lawyers of Tolekan Ismailova called the decision of the Supreme Court unjustified and groundless and pointed out that the panel of judges did not pay attention to the conclusion of a linguist. Aziza Abdirasulova will file a supervisory complaint to the Supreme Court on the same suit in September. The decision has been taken only on Tolekan Ismailova.
