MegaCom case. Supreme Court hearings scheduled for April 4

Hearings in the Supreme Court are scheduled for April 4. Abaz Mambetakunov, one of the lawyers representing the interests of the convicted Almazbek Abekov, told 24.kg news agency.

According to him, lawyers of the ex-adviser of the head of Alfa Telecom CJSC Almazbek Abekov demand to send the case to a new investigation. He added that the Supreme Court hearing, where the parties — both state prosecution and defense — filed supervisory complaints in MegaCom case, was to take place on March 20, but it was postponed because of the holidays.

«The state prosecution wants the court to review the decision of the previous instance in a civil suit. In the opinion of the prosecutor’s office, my client and former head of the company Azamat Murzaliyev must compensate for the damage, as they say, in solidarity, and not individually," Abaz Mambetakunov said.

Earlier lawyers of the representatives of the top management of the company stated that they would not appeal against the decision of the Bishkek city court and would immediately appeal to the UN Human Rights Committee.

Note, the Bishkek City Court upheld the verdict of the first instance court. Former adviser to the head of Alfa Telecom CJSC Almazbek Abekov was sentenced to a total of 25 years in prison with confiscation of property. Also, it was decided to collect 91 million soms from him for the benefit of the mobile operator.

The court sentenced Azamat Murzaliev to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.

Director of the company Novostroy Service Aman uulu Kenzhebek by court order will spend eight years in the colony. The court found them guilty of all the incriminated acts.
