Kyrgyzstan to ban sale of naswar

Deputies plan to develop a bill totally banning the sale of naswar in Kyrgyzstan. The deputy Azamat Arapbaev announced today at a meeting of the Parliament.

MPs are considering the bill that proposes to annually increase the excise tax on cigarettes by 250 soms in the next three years. The proposal was made by Dastan Bekeshev. Deputy Alfya Samigullina noted that the idea to fight with the harmful effects of tobacco by the excise tax increase was good.

«Meanwhile, consumption of naswar among young people increased three times in recent years. I think it is dangerous trend too. And we have to do something with it," she said.

Azamat Arapbaev responded that they were already dealing with this issue. He believes that the sale of naswar should be completely banned.
