About 242,000 people will receive land plots as a result of irrigation development. The issue was discussed at meeting on the draft of the state program on Development of Kyrgyzstan’s irrigation for 2017–2026, the Department of Information Support of the government reported.
According to it, the Prime Minister Sooronbay Jeenbekov noted that the program is an important tool to address the efficient use of water resources of the country.
The program will allow to solve complex problems, in particular, ensure food security, reduce poverty and rural migration.

It is planned that about 242,000 people will get the land plots. Introduced new irrigated lands will create not only new jobs, but also will allow receiving about 1.5 billion soms annually in terms of the average rent.
In this regard, Prime Minister Sooronbay Jeenbekov instructed to look for investors in order not to create a burden for the national budget.
Following the meeting, there has been approved the draft concept of the state program on Development of Irrigation for 2017–2026. In the near future, the project will be submitted to the government.
