Kyrgyzstan to be taught exports of goods to European market

The first technical mission of the European Union on the GSP + program will teach Kyrgyzstan to export goods to the European market, the representative office of the European Union in Kyrgyzstan reported.

Yesterday, the first technical mission of European experts arrived in the country. Experts will assist the Government in increasing the volume of national exports to the EU under the GSP + status. Two experts will be in Bishkek and Osh for 15 days.

GSP + status was granted to Kyrgyzstan in January 2017. It allows exporting more than 6,000 items of domestic products to the EU free of duties.

«The mission will assess the current state of affairs in the test labs. In particular, it will examine the laboratories with international certification on confirmation of the quality of products exported to the states-members of the EU. In addition, the mission will assess the potential and phytosanitary state of agencies and customs authorities, responsible for ensuring the provisions of the GSP + and the EU requirements on rules of origin of products," the statement said.

Experts will point out the problems that must be solved to increase the volume of exports of Kyrgyz goods to the European Union. It is noted that this is the first short-term mission. The EU is considering the possibility of organizing additional technical assistance during 2017.
