The State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan (SCNS) detained a course manager at Kyrgyz National University named after Jusup Balasagyn (KNU), E.u.M., on suspicion of organizing a corruption scheme related to student admission to state examinations.
According to the security service, the suspect allegedly created artificial barriers preventing graduates from being admitted to state exams and demanded money from students. Investigators believe that the funds obtained were then passed on to lecturers and other responsible university staff.
Following investigative procedures, the suspect has been placed in the temporary detention facility of the SCNS.
Authorities said that investigative measures are ongoing to identify other faculty members and administrative staff who may be involved in the illegal scheme.
