Kyrgyzstan continues to have one of the most favorable tax regimes in Central Asia. Maria Nazarova, Tax Director at Schneider Group, said during a business-government dialogue held today in Bishkek, presenting a regional overview.
According to her, the main taxes in Kyrgyzstan remain lower than in neighboring countries.
«For example, the income tax here is just 10 percent, compared to 15 percent in Uzbekistan and 20 percent in Kazakhstan (up to 25 percent for certain sectors),» the expert noted.
The VAT rate in Kyrgyzstan is 12 percent, the same as in Uzbekistan, while in Kazakhstan it increased to 16 percent from 2026 (5 percent for the pharmaceutical sector).
Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, on the other hand, have no sales tax, while Kyrgyzstan does have one, albeit a small one—1-3 percent.

Maria Nazarova also noted that withholding tax in Kyrgyzstan is relatively low — ranging from 5 to 10 percent, whereas in other regional countries it can reach up to 20 percent.
Income tax for individuals in Kyrgyzstan ranges from 1 to 10 percent, which is also lower than in neighboring countries: up to 12 percent in Uzbekistan and up to 15 percent in Kazakhstan.
Overall, the expert said, such conditions make Kyrgyzstan attractive for businesses and investors due to a lower overall tax burden.
