Up to 1,000 old trees planned for removal in Bishkek — Bishkekzelenkhoz

At least 800 old trees are expected to be cut down in the capital this year. Zhanybek Zhumaliev, chief agronomist of the municipal enterprise Bishkekzelenkhoz, said on Radio Sputnik Kyrgyzstan.

According to him, from 800 to 1,000 old trees are scheduled for removal in 2026.

Zhumaliev specified that the trees subject to removal are primarily poplars and elm trees.

«Old trees will be removed from 50 streets, while 17,000 new ones are planned to be planted. The City Hall is purchasing 50,000 saplings, which will be adapted to the local climate in nurseries and planted in 2027,» he explained.
