First Kyrgyz female mountaineer begins preparation for Mount Everest ascent

Kyrgyz mountaineer Asel Baibagysheva has begun preparations for her Mount Everest ascent, scheduled for April 14. She will become the first female representative of Kyrgyzstan to conquer the world’s highest peak.

According to the Mountaineering Federation of Kyrgyzstan, Baibagysheva is currently training intensively in the mountains.

Asel Baibagysheva has been mountaineering for eight years. She has previously successfully climbed several high peaks in Kyrgyzstan, including Zhenish, Khan-Teniri, and Zhel-Aidar.

She became the first Kyrgyz woman to climb Manaslu at an altitude of 8,000 meters without supplemental oxygen.

Earlier, Kyrgyzstani Eduard Kubatov conquered the highest peak on Earth — Mount Everest on May 23, 2021.

Eduard Kubatov is only the second Kyrgyzstani to conquer Mount Everest. The first was Dmitry Grekov in 1997.
