A blogger suspected of a fatal traffic accident was arrested in Bishkek. The Main Department of Internal Affairs confirmed the information.
The road accident occurred on the night of February 25 on the Southern Highway in Bishkek. According to preliminary data, a BMW was moving along the highway and collided with a scooter turning left at the intersection with Asylkech Street. The 17-year-old scooter rider died from injuries before the ambulance arrived.
According to the victim’s brother, the driver of the car is well-known blogger and businessman Manas Egemberdiev, who was allegedly driving at a high speed at the time of the accident.
The road accident was registered under Article 312 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic — «Violation of traffic safety rules and operation of motor vehicles resulting in grave harm due to negligence.»
The BMW driver was detained and placed in a temporary detention facility. The investigation is ongoing.
