US investments in Central Asia amounted to about $44-51 billion for 30 years

Business Regulation Advisor and representative of the Asian Leadership Center Bakyt Omurzakov presented a study on the topic «Improving the Business Environment in Central Asia — Analysis of US Investments in Central Asia (USIACA)» at an investment forum in Bishkek.

As part of the presentation, a preliminary report on US investments in Central Asia was presented. Bakyt Omurzakov noted that the study is ongoing, the main objective of the project is to create a guide for investors. The work includes an analysis of international economic reviews and surveys.

«Over 30 years, from 1994 to 2024, the United States invested $44-51 billion in Central Asia, 99 percent of these funds were directed to Kazakhstan, primarily in the oil, gas and mining industries. Among the main investors are companies from California, New York and Texas,» he emphasized.

The volume of investments from the United States in Kyrgyzstan that remained in the country amounted to about $66 million out of a total of $3.8 billion for the specified period.

The expert added that this year, from July to September, it was possible to survey more than 100 respondents in Central Asia, including leaders of business associations, representatives of the private sector and the international community.
