Uzbek coach awarded medal for assistance to Kyrgyz boxer Munarbek Seyitbek uulu

A coach from Uzbekistan Akmal Khasanov, who became a second for Kyrgyz boxer Munarbek Seyitbek uulu at the Paris Olympics, was awarded the Chingiz Aitmatov medal. The Secretary General of the International Public Association Issyk-Kul Forum named after Chingiz Aitmatov Assol Moldokmatova told journalists.

She noted that the decision to award the Uzbek coach Akmal Khasanov for humanism, tolerance, humanity and a high level of public diplomacy was made on August 5.

«Thank you, Akmal, for your humanity and brotherly attitude. We appreciate, respect and admire you. We are looking forward to your visit. You are worthy of all the praise and awards,» Assol Moldokmatova said.

The Uzbek coach Akmal Khasanov acted as a second for Kyrgyz boxer Munarbek Seyitbek uulu, who reached the semi-finals at the Olympics for the first time in the history of Kyrgyzstan.

His personal coach was not included in the list of the Kyrgyz delegation. «The fact that Munarbek’s personal coach did not go to Paris is being discussed on social media. Munarbek secured a berth at the long-awaited Olympics in June of this year. However, the accreditation of coaches was completed back in March. Several boxers participated in the qualifying tournaments, it was unknown who of them would go to the Olympics, so the head coach was accredited. We all know how thoroughly the preparations for the Olympics are being carried out. In this regard, permission was given only to the head coach,» officials said.

Akmal Khasanov himself told the media that he was familiar with Munarbek Seyitbek uulu, who often came to Uzbekistan for training camps and trained with Uzbek athletes.

«Munarbek trained with us, he came to the Olympics alone. He asked me to help. Since our neighboring countries have friendly relations, we were happy to help him. He made history and became the first Olympic boxing medalist in the history of Kyrgyzstan,» Akmal Khasanov said.

The coach told that he has been helping the Kyrgyzstan’s boxer with opponent analysis and training.

On the night of August 9, the bronze medalist of the 2024 World Championship Munarbek Seyitbek uulu will compete with Javier Ibanez from Bulgaria.
