At least 86 cases of infectious diseases among animals have been registered in Kyrgyzstan. Bakyt Sharapov, Deputy Director of the Veterinary Service, told at a press conference.
According to him, most of them are rabies cases — 36 foci.
«The carriers of rabies are predatory animals. These are wolves, foxes. They come to villages and attack cattle, people. Rabies is transmitted through saliva, through a bite,» Bakyt Sharapov noted.
In addition, two cases of anthrax have been reported in Kara-Suu and Uzgen districts.
In total, there are 565 anthrax foci in the country.
The deputy head of the Veterinary Service stressed that about 87 million soms are allocated per year for the prevention of infectious diseases. The funds are allocated for nine diseases. Among them are anthrax, brucellosis, rabies, foot-and-mouth disease and others.
The allocated money is used to purchase medicines, vaccines and diagnostics are also included.
