Maternity benefits doubled in Kyrgyzstan

Maternity benefits have been increased in Kyrgyzstan from January 1. The Ministry of Labor, Social Security and Migration reported.

As the press service of the ministry noted, an increase in the amount of maternity benefits paid from the republican budget is provided: from the 11th working day it was increased from 10 to 20 calculated rates. For working women (who have an employment contract with an employer), benefits for the first ten working days are determined in the amount of 100 percent of wages at the expense of the employer.

«That is, the benefit has been increased by 100 percent — from 1,000 soms to 2,000 soms. If the average benefit before the increase was 3,600 soms, then from January 1, 2024 it will be 7,500 soms,» the Ministry of Labor noted.

Women working in high mountains and remote hard-to-reach areas are paid benefits in the amount of their full earnings for working days.

Maternity benefits are paid to working women who are in an employment relationship with an employer, individual entrepreneurs, members of peasant farms and women duly recognized as officially unemployed and having the right to unemployment benefits.
