Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Japarov met with members of the European Parliament led by the co-chairman of the Interparliamentary Committee Kyrgyzstan — European Union, deputy Tomáš Zdechovský. The press service of the Cabinet of Ministers reported.
The meeting was also attended by deputies of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan Leila Lurova and Gulsharkan Kultaeva, the Permanent Representative of Kyrgyzstan to the EU, Ambassador Aidit Erkin and the head of the European Union Delegation to Kyrgyzstan, Ambassador Marilyn Josefson.
The head of the Cabinet of Ministers congratulated the deputies on the successful holding of the 16th meeting of the Kyrgyzstan — European Union Parliamentary Cooperation Committee.
«We are pleased with the intensity of contacts with the European Parliament this year. I am confident that the results of the regular meeting of the Committee on Interparliamentary Cooperation held in Bishkek will serve to further strengthen our traditionally friendly and partnership relations with the European Union. We intend to further develop and strengthen bilateral and interregional multifaceted cooperation with the European Union, which is important for us,» he said.
The head of the Cabinet of Ministers told about the main priorities of state policy for the development of Kyrgyzstan for the next five years. He noted that the country has significant hydropower resources, as well as in solar and wind energy sector, the development of which not only contributes to the generation of environmentally friendly electricity, but also mitigates the impact on climate.
«I invite, through you, investors and financial institutions of your countries to cooperate to implement projects for the construction of renewable energy facilities and other green projects,» Akylbek Japarov said.
In turn, deputy of the European Parliament Tomáš Zdechovský expressed gratitude for the hospitality and noted the country’s successes in developing civil society, ensuring freedoms and the rule of law, economic reforms and digitalization. He emphasized that Kyrgyzstan is an important partner of the European Union and expressed commitment to further strengthening and deepening bilateral relations.
