Well-known travel blogger Pasha Globus launched a flash mob on social media against changing the state flag of Kyrgyzstan. He announced this on Instagram.
«The spiky rays of the new version of the flag are running away from the house, tearing it apart. And the new ray also resembles a seed, I can say it, a whole sunflower, the mention of which they so wanted to avoid,» the video says.
More than 2,000 comments have already been made under the post in support of the current flag of the country.
Earlier, Parliament passed in the first reading a bill on changing the state flag. 66 deputies voted for, 8 — against.
The upcoming change of the state flag is being actively discussed in Kyrgyzstan. The initiative to change the flag was put forward by the Speaker of Parliament Nurlanbek Shakiev. According to the initiators, changing the sun’s rays is aimed at improving the flag. However, social media users do not agree with the proposal.
The head of state also spoke on this matter. According to Sadyr Japarov, in general he supports the idea. Chairman of the State Committee for National Security Kamchybek Tashiev also spoke in favor of the change. He stated: «The flag should not look like a sunflower, but should give the image of a shining sun.»
