Up to 40 percent of married couples in Kyrgyzstan have some kind of infertility problem, both male and female, or both partners. Galina Chirkina, Executive Director of Reproductive Health Alliance, told 24.kg news agency.
According to her, surrogacy maternity is sometimes the only way to become a parent.
«This is a conscious choice of both the woman herself who provides this service, and the couple who uses this service. In many countries, surrogacy is a norm, well and clearly stated in the legislation, outlining the rights of all participants in this process. Any attempt to violate these norms will be a crime. But as a result, people can have their own child and be happy,» Galina Chirkina said.
Earlier, MP Dastan Bekeshev asked whether surrogacy should be banned in Kyrgyzstan. It, according to him, is prohibited in a number of developed countries and allowed in countries with developing economies. The psychological state of a woman is not taken into account in poor states, the deputy believes.
