It is planned to adopt a bill regulating the rules for the use of electric scooters and responsibility of those who use them for violation of traffic rules. Initiator of the amendments, MP Marlen Mamataliev, said at a briefing in Bishkek.
«The work on amendments is carried out by us together with the Main Traffic Safety Department. We do not intend to ban anything. This type of transport was not so popular before and was not reflected in laws and codes in any way. We must clearly regulate where electric scooters can be used, responsibility in case of an accident, mandatory presence of reflective elements at night, and so on. Amendments are being made to the law on traffic and the Code of Offences,» he said.
According to the deputy, the Parliament will not have time to adopt this document before the summer recess (deputy corps traditionally goes on vacation from July 1. — Note of 24.kg news agency). Within a week, the bill will be sent for public discussion, and in September it will be considered by deputies.
