World Press Freedom Day: Kyrgyzstan lives by notions of law— Madumarov

The UN Resident Coordinator in Kyrgyzstan, Antje Grawe, reminded the country’s authorities of their intention to send the draft laws «On Mass Media» and «On NGOs» to the Venice Commission and the OSCE for an opinion. She stated this at a round table discussing freedom of speech and civil rights in the Kyrgyz Republic.

Antje Grawe urged all forces to unite so that all four freedoms stipulated in the Declaration, including freedom of speech, become a reality in Kyrgyzstan.

The leader of Butun Kyrgyzstan parliamentary faction, Adakhan Madumarov, said in response that it was impossible to unite and the country lives not by law, but by its notions of the law.

«Society is ruled by bot factories, that is, an aggressive minority. It is higher than the Constitutional and Supreme Courts. The fact that all international principles are ignored in Kyrgyzstan indicates that degradation is underway,» Adakhan Madumarov said.

He added that not only the authorities in the Kyrgyz Republic are degrading, but the entire world community. The UN, according to the deputy, has discredited itself by some decisions.

Adakhan Madumarov admitted that the Kyrgyz Republic can live without a court, parliament, but it cannot live without freedom of speech.
