The Kochkor District Court passed a sentence on the relatives of a minor girl who was married off. Decision of the court says.
Five people were in the dock — the parents of the girl’s husband, her mother, the mullah who performed the ceremony, and the husband himself.
«During the trial, the mother of the girl said that she was against her 16-year-old daughter getting married, but she began to threaten that she would commit suicide. Fearing that the girl would commit suicide, the woman agreed, and now her daughter lives with her husband. The husband’s parents told the court that their son had said that he intended to marry, they did not ask about the girl’s age,» the verdict says.
The mullah stated that he had previously performed nikah rites and checked passports. However, this time he was told that the girl had lost her passport.
The girl herself told the court that she fell in love with the guy, voluntarily agreed to marry him. The couple deceived the clergyman allegedly because they were afraid that they would not be married.
