There are no sports medicine specialists in Kyrgyzstan. Deputy Minister of Health, Tilek Mamadaliev, announced today at a meeting of the parliamentary committee on social policy.
Deputies considered amendments to the Law On Physical Culture and Sports in the second reading.
According to Tilek Mamadaliev, there are no sports doctors in the country. Doctors from private and public clinics, as well as ambulance workers perform their duties during competitions on the basis of a temporary contract.
"We are just starting to develop sports medicine. Those athletes who get injured are treated abroad and undergo rehabilitation there. We do not have such specialists as a sports doctor, only traumatologists and ambulance workers,” the deputy minister said.
He also noted that the country has no state rehabilitation centers for athletes.
