Slovenia is ready to develop cooperation with Kyrgyzstan - Tanja Fajon

President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov received the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia Tanja Fajon, who arrived in the country on an official visit.

The parties exchanged views on the topical areas of bilateral cooperation of mutual interest, in particular, political, economic, cultural and humanitarian ones.

The head of state stressed that the Kyrgyz side highly appreciates the initiative of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Slovenia to further develop cooperation with Central Asia and Kyrgyzstan, and is always ready and open to cooperate with Slovenian partners.

Speaking about the first Kyrgyz-Slovenian Business Forum held in Bishkek, Sadyr Japarov noted that such events would certainly increase the volume of trade between the two countries and improve relations between business circles. Moreover, there is a large unused potential between the countries that needs to be unlocked.

Sadyr Japarov focused on the favorable investment climate in Kyrgyzstan. He named hydropower, mining, agriculture, IT industry and tourism as one of the most priority areas for investment in the country.

Tanja Fajon confirmed Slovenia’s readiness to develop cooperation with the Kyrgyz Republic in a wide range of areas, as well as to provide political support.

She added that the delegation of businessmen representing such areas as agriculture, infrastructure, pharmaceuticals, construction, have extensive experience and are ready to cooperate with their Kyrgyz counterparts.

According to her, Slovenia, as a member of the European Union, is interested in accelerating the signing of a new agreement on enhanced partnership and cooperation between the EU and Kyrgyzstan.

The parties agreed to jointly strengthen cooperation between Central Asia and the European Union.
